Going Green

Photobucket

OK... I know it LOOKS gross... but it's actually REALLY GOOD. This is my attempt at eating breakfast. I HATE eating in the morning, and I know I need to, to help boost my metabolism and keep my blood sugars more stable and avoid my pre-lunch crashes that have been occurring. This was attempt one and it actually worked! This is what I used.

1 small banana
1 cup skim milk
1 T. peanut butter
1 t. cocoa powder
1 T flaxseeds
lots of spinach *I didn't measure, but maybe 2-3 cups?*
lots of ice

Blend the snot out of it.

This gave me sooo much energy and filled me up till lunch. =)

Can anyone tell me how to get pictures to post without getting cut off like that?? It's not resizing them.

Welldone on getting some breakfast. Daniel's cooking ours at the moment (buckwheat pancakes with eggs, ham, cheese and pinapple filling - our Sunday morning treat)

This sounds good, I need to join the green smoothie movement.

But I have to say, when blogging about GREEN smoothies, they would sound more appealing if you didn't say "blend the snot out of it"! Just sayin'

hehehe

O -K -
So do u taste the greens, or is the taste masked by the PB and Banana?

Awww! You had me until you said "spinach". The other stuff sounds great though. I thought about trying it without the spinach. But that probably defeats the whole purpose, doesn't it? Then it wouldn't be green either. Bummer. Oh well - nice idea.

Hi Windy!

I *love* spinach. Haven't had it with bananas, but I'm willing to try! When we make smoothies I put a tablespoon of flaxseed oil in for the omega 3s. You can't taste the oil at all, and it actually helps emulsify the smoothie to make it smoother!

I also freeze chunks of bananas (or papaya or whatever) so I don't have to add as many ice cubes, but the drink is still nice and frozen. Yum!

Have you tried resizing your picture before uploading? I have photoshop elements, which is pretty simple to learn (especially with the "dummies" or "classroom in a book" books).
