Before and Almost After P90x

I am going to post a couple of my before and after pictures since starting the P90x workout and really watching what I eat. I had a hard time finding a full body shot of me from before because I was so bummed out with my weight gain after having Zoe that I ended up deleting many of them!! I know, I'm so dang vain. There will be no bathing suit photos because when I run for public office someday I don't want there to be any crazy photos floating around the internet. (kidding, sort of)

BEFORE (8/08)

AFTER (11/08)

See my cute Animas pump??

These pictures were taken last night at my friend's wedding reception. I had to do a little editing on the sunset one because I forgot to turn on the flash before my friend took the picture, but I think the point will still get across!! If anyone reading this is a boo-ya awesome photo editor and can make it look better for me I'd be HAPPY and ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to email you the original for fixing! I love this photo of us, but I'm so sad that the lighting turned out bad.

Looking good, Windy! But what makes me happier is how more energetic and healthier you FEEL. But looking all toned rocks, too!

Great job Windy. The hard work was worth it. I can't wait to see what Landileigh comes up with.

Hi Windy, my name is Alice, and I've had type 1 diabetes since I was 6 years old. I weigh almost 180 lbs and I really want to lose it. I'm only 20 years old and I want to be in shape and be able to hang out with my 2 beautiful sisters and not feel like everyone's pointing at me. I must admit I havn't tried to many diets but when I watch the P90X infomercials i get really motivated... My question is with you being a diabetic and doing the workout, was it a struggle? Is it worth trying? And was it hard to stick to the diet plan when it comes to your blood sugar? Do you recomend it?

Alice, Hi! Thanks for stopping by! OK, I'll be very honest, it was a struggle with the diabetes... a lot of tweaking the insulin doses and a lot of night time lows at first because it is A LOT of exercise. I also sipped on Gatorade instead of water during the workouts. The program itself is a BIG COMMITMENT, both with time and energy. It is no cakewalk.... BUT I, like yourself, wanted the results BAAAAD.... so I stayed committed and it worked! I did not follow the diet plan at all... I simply gave up alcohol, soda, fast food and tried to make very healthy choices and avoid as much processed food as possible. I ate a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, peanutbutter, fruits and veggies, lean meats, etc. Good luck!!!!

Hey there - I'm type 1 and starting p90X on Monday. I've been stressing about the recommended meal plan (it seems like so much food!) but it looks like you've had great success by simply eating healthy.

How did you avoid the night time lows? Did you adjust your basal rates on your pump? I use a Medtronic one with the cgms and I have p90x on the way... Should get delivered this week. Just trying to get mentally prepared for the things I'll inevitibly have to deal with diabetes wise. thanks

Hi Ian! Yes, I had to reduce my night time basil by almost 50% by the time I was about half way through the program. You may want to make sure your endo knows you are doing this program. My suggestions for the first few nights would be to keep juice, gluclose tabs, or a snack next to your bed... along with your testing kit. You will probably lower not only your night time basil, but your day time as well over the next few weeks. Best wishes! Let me know how you do! P90x was the greatest thing my husband and I ever did to kick start our metabolism and get back in to a fitness lifestyle. Over a year later I am still weighing in at 115-120 and staying very active! :)
